Seventy years ago, it was at the White Sox home opener that Cleveland’s Bob Feller pitched a no-hit game leading Cleveland to a 1-0 win at old Comiskey Park. This 1940 game is still the only Opening Day no-hitter to be thrown in Major League Baseball history. This was the first of three no-hitters for Bob Feller. Feller was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1962. April 16, 1940 Bob is being congratulated by Lou Boudreau and Hal Trosky after pitching the only Opening Day No-Hitter in Major League Baseball history against the Chicago White Sox.
